With our race being held in the beautiful and serene plains of South Dakota, planning for travel and lodging will be important!

If you’re unfamiliar with the area, Millboro, SD is an unincorporated rural community. Staying in a hotel will involve a 30-60 minute drive to the race location, and airports are quite a distance away. We’ve included information here with reliable lodging options and information on the closest airport locations.

Airports

Rapid City Regional Airport
This airport is located in Rapid City, SD it is about a 3 hour drive from the airport to Winner or Valentine. If you would like to see our national monument and historical sights, this is the airport to fly into. This airport is very near Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Deadwood, Sturgis, and Keystone.

Pierre Regional Airport
This airport is located in Pierre, SD. It is very small and has limited flight options, however, it is the closest airport to both Winner and Valentine – 1.5 hours to Winner, and just over a 2 hours to Valentine.

Sioux Falls Regional Airport
This airport is located in Sioux Falls, SD. Of the airports listed here, it offers the most flight options. It is about 3 hours from Winner and 4 from Valentine. Sioux Falls is South Dakota’s largest city and offers good eats, shopping, and a variety of activities.

North Platte Lee Bird Regional Airport
This airport is located in North Platte, NE. It is very small and has limited flight options, however it is just as close to Valentine as the Pierre airport. The drive to Valentine is right at 2 hours, while a drive to Winner is 3.5.

If you want to use a larger airport (and are interested in seeing more of the country), Denver is about a 6 hour drive and has an international airport.
